How Does Public Transportation work in Istanbul?
The e-ticket for Istanbul public transport is Istanbul Kart (current price 25 TL), which you can top up as needed. Istanbul Karting is available for the entire Istanbul transport system. It is available and charged at Istanbul Airport (IST), Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW), and major bus and boat stations.

Network:
Here are all the transportation
options in Istanbul.
Metro: Major Network of subway lines, Marmaray, and the nostalgic Tünel metro.
Ferries: Bosphorus Cruises, Golden Horn, Princes Islands, Car Ferry, Speedboats.
Tram: Works on the European side of Istanbul.
Nostalgic Tram: Running on Istiklal Caddesi.
Cable car: Connecting Kabataş Station and Taksim Square.
Bus: You can easily find bus routes throughout Istanbul.
Shared taxis (Dolmuş): Some minibusses can stand while driving, and yellow shared taxis with only seats.
Cable Car: Maçka-Taşkışla and Eyüp-Piyer Loti.
Metro Train (Subway) Daily from 6:00am to midnight:
- M1A Line Yenikapi – Ataturk Airport
- M1B Line Yenikapı-Kirazlı
- M2 Line Yenikapı-Hacıosman
- M3 Line Kirazlı-Olimpiyatköy-Başakşehir
- M4 line Kadıköy-Tavşantepe (Asia side)
- M5 Line Üsküdar-Çekmeköy (Asian side)
- M6 line Levent-Boğaziçi University/Hisarüstü
Tramway (Tram):
- T1 line Bağcılar-Kabataş every day from 6:00 am to midnight
- T3 Line Kadıköy-Moda Daily 7:00 – 21:00
- Line T4 Topkapı-Mescid-i Selam Every day from 6:00 am to midnight
Mtero Bus:
- Line 34 Avcılar-Zincirlikuyu
- Line 34A Söğütlüçeşme-Cevizlibağ
- Line 34AS Avcılar-Söğütlüçeşme

Metro buses run every 1 to 2 minutes.
Airport Transfer Options in Istanbul:
Istanbul has two International Airports. Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW), on the Asian side, is 40 km from the city center, and Istanbul Airport (IST) on the European side is 50 km from the city center.
Transportation From Istanbul Airport (IST):
Shuttle Bus: Istanbul’s official airport shuttle bus service is HAVAIST and has nine lines. One-way fares range from 16 to 45 lire per person.
Public Transportation: The city’s public buses (H-1, H-2, H-3, and H-4) are currently the only public transportation option. A new metro line (M11 from Gayrettepe) will run from the city center to Istanbul Airport.
Trnasportation From Sabiha Gokcen Airport:
Shuttle Bus: The official bus service is the HAVABUS bus service of Sabiha Gokcen with three lines to Taksim, Kadıköy, and Yenisahra.
Public transport: Sabiha Airport is connected to Istanbul city center by bus lines such as the regular E-11 bus line to Kadıköy.
Private Airport Transfer (VIP Transfer): The most convenient transfer option is a private airport transfer, which takes you directly to your hotel.
Taxi: Take a taxi from either airport to your location.
